kids rooms

Today I'm in "kiddie" decor mode, so here are a few things to inspire you...

Here are a few of my favorites from the Land of Nod.
Aren't these wall decals adorable?!!!

Okay. So I know that kids are NOT supposed to write on the walls, but with this wallpaper, they actually can!

Fun bedding for a girl...

and a boy...

And baby... this bedding is called "womb with a view". Funny name. CUTE bedding!

I think this adorable baby's room would be easy to recreate on a small budget! (courtesy of life in the fun lane)
happy decorating!

family room remix

This is a client in the Minneapolis area that we already did a BOOKSHELF REMIX for by removing some shelves, adding some art and mixing new accessories with old:

BEFORE
AFTER

and a FIREPLACE REMIX using only items that she already had

BEFORE

AFTER
She loves both of these transformations, but is also REALLY tired of her furniture, loves the idea of remix it online and wants to see what we can do to completely update her family room. The TV needs to stay but all other furniture can go. We'll be posting the remix it board and interactive floor plan in the next week or two, so stay tuned!

happy memorial day weekend

Happy Friday! I'm sure everyone is looking forward to a long holiday weekend.

Some exciting things are right around the corner at room remix, so please keep checking back. I'll be writing more about them next week.

If you get the Star News, keep an eye out for the Room Remix article in the Home and Garden section coming out this weekend!

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Folding Screen Remix

This foyer wall needed some art, but it's a large wall (9' x 9') and that usually means big $$$!

Thinking outside the box, we found this folding screen at Home Goods for $90. It's made to sit on the floor but it's the right size, has some character, and with a little paint could work in our space. Why not put it on the wall? (We had already taken it apart and sawn the legs off by the time we took this picture.)

We painted the 3 sections of the screen, put the wrought iron back in two of them and purchased a painted iron piece for the middle for $30 at Kohls (we felt that putting the wrought iron in all 3 would be a little monotonous). Total cost of the project, including paint was $130.

So... next time you're shopping, look at things with a creative eye. Is that REALLY all it can be used for, or can you make it work as something else?
