Happy Mother's Day to all of you Moms out there and for those of you who are not Moms, I am wishing for you the opportunity to spend a blissful day with the wonderful mother who brought you into this world.
I believe I that I not only inherited my Mom's genes, I also inherited her love of decorating! She truly knows how to make a house into a HOME.
Although our design aesthetics vary, we both appreciate the thrill of creating a great space.
Here are some things that will always make me think of my Mom and the home she created for us:
Wallpaper! She would slave over the books for hours trying to get just the right one. (Not me, I know what I like when I see it ~ I can make design decisions immediately). My ability to do this always amazes my Mom.
My Mom always has the best flower gardens!
Sadly, I did not inherit her green thumb. On the bright side, we have a fabulous landscaper!
My Mom has the biggest collection of colored glass. She has the bottles displayed in the windows of her colonial home and the sun shines on them at certain times of the day and makes little rainbow mosaics.
My Mom always had ball fringe curtains ~ yes, even in the shed which matched the house!
There is something so comforting about visiting my Mom's. It doesn't matter what time of the day or night you show up unannounced ~ she is always smiling and ready to stuff you full of sweets!
Thanks, Mom, for not only instilling good values and morals but also your love of beautiful things an teaching me how to create a HOME for the people I love. xo
Did you inherit your love of design from your Mom?
