Laughing through Life

The Culprit:  Jordan, age 4
Scenario:  Inside of busy bank, late morning, somewhere New England
It all started out as any ordinary Autumn morning when my son was
about age 4.   I had to run an errand and Jordan decided he just had to come
in and dig through the lollipop basket in search for the perfect one, (I am sure I told
him to pick one out for his sister who was waiting in the car with Grandma, and I may
have casually mentioned that I like Root Beer).
Anywho,  we were waiting our turn in line when he decided to hug my legs, as
kids this age are known to do.  Well, his innocent display of affection actually took my legs
right out from underneath me, (this move, although unintentional, would have put any NFL linebacker to shame)!   So, there I was splayed across the floor in the middle of, The
Bank of America, while everyone stared in horror, pocketbook askew.  (Surely, if they drew a line of chalk around me, it would have resembled a murder scene).
I managed to gather myself as gracefully as I could and took one look at
Jordan's face which was a mix of crimson, shock and amusement.  There he stood
with his little mouth hanging open and it was at that point that I broke out into laughter.
This in turn, made him laugh and gave all of the onlookers permission to let out that
laugh they were trying so hard to suppress, (yes, at my expense... always eager to entertain).
Hey, come to think of it I never got my Root Beer lollipop!
