I have pointed out to a certain grandmother this cool Ikea Ekorre Rocking Moose which would be a great Christmas present for a certain granddaughter - even if she is too young for it right now...(suitable from 18 months onwards).

Crikey, it is the first day of December! Yep, it's time to start counting down to Christmas Day and for us in the southern hemisphere, a much sought after Summer break.
I got a great message today from the editorial staff at Livet Hemma - they saw my posting about their Ikea blog. They let me know that they have Christmas ideas and inspirations on their blog right now.
I love their images above as it really tells Christmas as it is - having family and friends over, bringing together all the available chairs around a makeshift table, Christmas cards on the wall, lots of food on the table and Christmas baubles hanging above. Here's an interesting blog from Ikea, Sweden - called Livet Hemma (which translates to english as 'Life at Home'). It contains tips, inspirations, photographs, styling - in general all things interiors and Ikea. It is in Swedish so I recommend doing Google Translate to read all the tidbits and advice.

I Like...

I like...this lovely dining room scene from a guest house based in Hourglass Vineyards in Napa Valley, USA. A good combo of the classics - galvanised Tolix chairs along with the Leran pendant light and Rand rug from Ikea.

My Flat Pack (Formerly Mykea)

Isn't the blog/web world a vast world? It's certainly one where we can rub each other's backs. I received an email the other day from My Flat Pack (formerly Mykea). They had found my posting about ordering my Ikea PS cabinet through them earlier this year and the PS cabinet visuals that I had collected from other sources. It is important to credit where you find your images and information. I found the above image via Apartment Therapy and it was this image that My Flat Pack were interested in to put on their home page. They asked for my permission as it would be via my blog and would also add the link to my blog along with it. Isn't that cool? Of course, I allowed it and they have done so - check it out here.
What is also great is that My Flat Pack now have stock of certain Ikea products in Auckland - so if you want a PS cabinet (one of the stock items), it will arrive to your door in no time. I've yet to purchase my second one to go beside my existing one but handy to know that it is right there when I'm ready.

My Ikea PS Cabinet.

The Ikea PS Cabinet arrived at the end of last week. Could I wait until the weekend to put the flat packed cabinet together? Not a chance. I was still in my sweaty gym gear after a early morning training session when the delivery guy handed over the package. The box was immediately opened, the instruction manual studied and the cabinet formed.
After deciphering all the cords, DVD player, Telstraclear modems and other TV paraphernalia - it is all working and hidden in the cabinet. Lovely.

The Ikea PS cabinet is one of those furniture pieces that I've always noticed - in magazines, blogs and other interior images. It's a classic piece and I would love a white one for my television in my new Living room. Not only would it be handy now for the TV but it'll be a great useful piece in the future for other uses, like an office or a kid's bedroom.
Have you, like me, wanted to buy Ikea and just couldn't because, damn, it's in Australia? Check out Mykea. I came across this secret via a very handy friend. I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting high delivery charges and I was wrong. So one PS cabinet is on its way!
