Ikat Covered Designer Chair

Ikat covered Eames Lounge Chair by Commune.
You may recognise this designer chair at the left of this image? It is most famous in its black leather guise - the Eames Lounge Chair by Charles and Ray Eames. I love the fact a designer chair has been recovered in an Ikat fabric and given a different personality to how it is usually 'known' - a nice balance between respecting a great piece of design and putting your touch on it.

Simply Smitten: Lovely Lucite

via 1, 2
I am loving the contrast of these pretty cushions against the translucent chairs.  Feminine and chic.

Osterlen Table and Chair

Osterlen table and chair designed by Inga Sempe for Garsnas.
Here is a gorgeous ash chair and table duo designed by French designer Inga Sempe for Swedish furniture company, Garsnas. It is called 'Osterlen' - named after the town in southeast Sweden where this furniture is made. I love the simplicity and the well composed U-cuts of these pieces. Check out how the design was developed, including the sketches and prototypes, here and read more about it's Stockholm Furniture Fair release this February here.

Campaign Chairs

I like this simple bathroom from South Africa via Remodelista.
I noticed the Campaign chair (to the right) immediately - I love these chairs. They're very British Colonial and so 'Out of Africa' (who doesn't love that film?!).
I grew up with a pair of Campaign chairs - my parents had them in chrome yellow (wouldn't they be incredibly hip right now). Several decades later they're now in black and still look very stylish in their home. I would happily have a pair of leather ones like below.

Color Soiree Pink and Taupe

via 12, 3, 4

Clutch
Isola Bella bathmat
Mini Bath Baskets
Over the Taupe + I Pink I love You nail polish

This is one color combo that always makes me swoon!  You can bet I will be looking to add this palette to my Spring wardrobe.
What's on your calendar for this weekend?

I Like...

I like.. the different designer dining chairs at this table.
This dining area belongs to stylist James Leland Day - located at his Parisian apartment in the 12th arrondissement. Why stress over which designer chairs to get when you can have one of each? This creates more interest in a small space - just as long you keep the palette the same. I also like the bench seat at the wall side of the table with comfy cushions to lean back on. Nice.

Happy Birthday to Me...

New re-upholstered chair in my office.
Recovered in silver grey velvet.
Close up of the tufted back.
It was my birthday yesterday and this chair was a birthday gift from my parents. It once belonged to the late Yvonne Kyle, my beloved grandmother. The chair was previously covered in a peacock green velvet which was very worn after many years of use. To maintain the original qualities of the chair, I stayed with a velvet and chose a classic silver grey. My upholsterer has made a fantastic job keeping the chair exactly how it was and it now has pride of place beside my desk at my office. There is a blue and white ticking cushion on its way to complete the picture.
