Welcome to Femme de Brocante based in Rangiora, outside of Christchurch. This shop has been mentioned to me by two clients over the last week. After some investigation and the shocking earthquake that happened over the weekend around Christchurch, it seemed appropriate to pay tribute to them today.
Founded in 2006 by Jo and Emily, FdB was created to bring affordable designer fabrics to the public. They source fabrics from Europe, USA and India and while these fabric would normally retail up to $200 per metre, FdB sell their entire quality designer fabrics at wholesale prices - usually between $10.00 to $55.00 per metre. Score! My client has a Ralph Lauren fabric that she adores and paying only $35.00 per metre. Just amazing.
Check out their Facebook page where they post photos of some their fabric range as well as other accessories that they stock (you don't need to be on FB to have a look). And if you're keen on something, just give them a call. They are happy to send samples and cuttings throughout New Zealand.

Check out this fresh looking range from Kiwi company, Home Base Collections. I was introduced to this textile range some years ago and I have a recent job that I know that the fabric would be ideal for. My client has a great Crown Lynn ceramic collection and appreciates all things stylish and kiwi. The Swans fabric is perfect for the job, as well as the gorgeous Nature Nuture and Rata.
Printed on hemp fabric, the textile range was designed by artist, stylist and designer Leanne Culy and if you check out the website, you will see all the photography is by her husband, Brian Culy.
There are other sideline businesses online - their homeware range (which includes lampshades and bases), greeting cards and art. A very talented pair...

Moderne by Mokum

Colour Collection - Topaz
Marcasite

Gin Fizz
Mokum Textiles is one textile brand that I never tire of. They are an Australian based textile company and every year they come out with great collections.
The latest release is called 'Moderne 2010'. Inspired by Art Deco and Parisian designers, you can see that the range is on the elegant side.
Mokum create tight designs that work back well with their previous collections - which is useful for long term interior projects. Mokum use strong design influences but that doesn't stop their designs from being modern and suit most interior styles.
I will be attending the Moderne release here in Wellington and look forward to seeing and feeling these fabric up close.
See the Moderne brochure here or check out the 'Moderne by Mokum' website here where you can read more about the design development, more visuals and fabrics close-ups.

Product - Klippan Sweden

Here's some more Klippan images to admire. There is a mix of traditional Swedish styles and some retros 70's patterns - however, all very luxurious and available to purchase through Charlotte Minty Design.
