Color Soiree Caramel and Cream

via 1, 2, 3
I love the warmth of caramel tones.  My all time favorite jacket is a butter soft caramel leather jacket that looks beautiful when paired with a cream scarf or creamy white cowl neck sweater.
My fashion sense definitely translate into my decor preferences.
Does your wardrobe go with you decor?

Shutter Island

via 1+2, 3
I would have to say this version of Shutter Island is much better than the one Leo Dicaprio was stranded on, (plus, there are no crazies)!
What do you think do you shudder at the thought of using shutters in decor?

Cotton Candy Dreams

via 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Pink.... embedded into our girly brains from day one.  It begins with a pink knit hat covering our newborn head shortly after arriving into this world.  Color of childhood bedrooms, cotton candy, tutus,
bubble gum, strawberry ice cream and peonies.  It shouts femininity and no boys allowed.
If I were single I would envelope my home in it.  I would have a glamorous pink bedroom room, pink tea cups and dishes.  I would walk around my home in a pink tank top and pink undies, and have a yard full of beautiful pink climbing roses.  I might just even have a pink front door!
What does pink represent to you?

Vogue in Verte

via 1, 2, 3, 4
I think Kermit had it wrong when he said, "It's not easy being green."  These lovely spaces would all be amazingly easy to live with.   I, unfortunately, am feeling a bit green as well, since the flu has reared it's ugly head and decided to take up residence at the Steele household for a bit.  I am hoping to be back to myself in time to ring in the New Year!

Welcome Baby Billie.

Also from Porters Paints is a range of wallpaper for baby and children from the Bholu textile designers. This one is called Mavis Monkey Ma and Pa.
I would like this posting to be a tribute to the arrival of my niece, Billie Iris who arrived on the 20/10/10. It's a pleasure to have you in this world.

Porters Original Paints from Australia are mainly known for their beautiful paint collection. What they also have is a great range of handcrafted wallpapers. Check out the Designers for Porters range where designers like Catherine Martin (film/theatre production and costume designer) and Julie Paterson (textile designer for 'cloth') have created their own ranges.

Cole and Son wallpaper 'Hummingbirds'
Here is a Cole and Son Ltd wallpaper that got a lot of media coverage - it is called Hummingbirds from A Collection of Flowers. It is rather sweet, traditional and danity.

Wallpaper - Marimekko

Due to several jobs I have on right now, I have been looking at a lot of wallpaper...
Wallpaper was not something I have used or recommended much of in the past, however due to several client's requests, that has changed. It has been great researching another decorative avenue and to find what I like. I have found some great options for some of my clients.
I thought I would do some wallpaper postings to show what I have seen. First up - the well known Finnish brand, Marimekko.

I received an email after this posting from Ben of Always Mod. They are a US based online retail store who specialises in Marimekko products. He let me know that they deliver to New Zealand. So if you liked the look of the wallpapers above or other Marimekko products, check them out here.

Do It Yourself Projects From Extreme Makeover and Wallpaper Sources

THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .

I'm a fan of Extreme Makeover Home Edition (sometimes I like the designs and sometimes I don't) because I love to watch the way everyone comes together to help a complete stranger have a better life. It's a good way to start out my week being reminded that every day that we're healthy and life is fairly "normal" with all of the little things in place that we take for granted, it is a day to be grateful for.

Anywho, last Sunday the designers made a huge chandelier out of doors for the foyer. It was way too big to fit in most of our average sized homes, but it was a fun DIY concept and I thought you all might like to see it, if you didn't see the show. Unfortunately, the only image I could find of the project was the one door above.

BUT. When I was on the website, I noticed that they have tutorials for DIY projects that they've completed on their shows (along with photos of the homes they've designed). I thought I would include a few here and give you the link for the rest if you're interested...

Eduardo's Natural Light Fixture

There are some DIYers in blog land that would probably do this light fixture in no time flat. I like the combination of the branches and metal.

Pallet Coffee Table

I've seen pallet tables before, but they were always rustic. Finishing this one in a bright, glossy color gives it a fresh, modern feel.

Ty's Dining Room Puzzle Table

This table is obviously huge, but I think it would be great in a scaled-down version, especially for a kids room play table or desk top. With shorter legs the scaled down version could be cute in a family room as a coffee table too.

Prompted by this wallpaper post, some of you were asking about wallpaper sources, so I did a little research. I know there are a variety of budgets and tastes out there and this is in no way a comprehensive list, but hopefully those of you who are looking will be able to find what you need.

Post Remix - Wallpaper in Bits and Pieces

THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .

Country Living Photo Laura Moss

Remixing is the art of taking what you already have, using it in a new way and adding a few new finishing touches. With that in mind, I've decided to REMIX my Wallpaper in Bits and Pieces post that I did in September of 2009, using the original post but mixing it up a bit and adding some new inspiration. So here you go!

If you love wallpaper, but just can't commit to wallpapering a room, here are some ways for you to incorporate your favorite wallpapers into your decor.

ON YOUR DESK:
(It seems like I've seen this somewhere, but I can't remember where, so if you've posted about it let me know!) Wallpaper the top of your desk with your favorite wallpaper and then have a piece of glass cut to protect it.

Create art by wallpapering a section of wall and framing it out (you could also just use foamcore or something similar if you didn't want to actually put the wallpaper on the wall). Finish it off by hanging empty frames on it. harlequin

found in Martha Stewart's Fresh Start: Wallpaper Projects
(there's a great headboard here too!) _______________________________________________________

You could wallpaper the back of a cabinet like we saw in this post.

If your fireplace is sheetrocked, use wallpaper for a dramatic focal point.
Or paint the fireplace, then wallpaper the rest of the wall in a high contrast
paper like they did here.
