My favorite part of any house is not a grand foyer, or expansive marble bath, but a cozy little nook that invites you to curl up with a steaming cup of peppermint tea and a great book.

Old Man Winter doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon. With record freezing temperatures in Boston, and more snow on the way, I am content to hole up in the kitchen and cook comfort food for hours on end.

Now that the party dress has been carefully hung, and the remnants of New Year's Eve celebrations have been cleared away, it's time to focus on resolutions for 2011.
A few years back I decided not to make resolutions because I never keep them.
This year I am making some that I know I can keep:
Eat the cookie and don't feel guilty, (heck... have the pie and ice cream too... you only live once)!
Go to Sephora often, (it's cheaper than therapy and works better too)!
Host lots of blog giveaways, (you know you like this one).
Make sure my kids know they are the best kids in the world, (easy, they are the best kids... when they clean their rooms and listen.. hee hee).
Do my part to help others when I can, (say yes to good karma)!
So let me ask you... do you make resolutions? If you answered yes, then do you keep them?

Color Soiree Green and Orange
So what is on your agenda this weekend? My inviting friends for dinner turned into a Christmas themed dinner party which I am very excited about. Table is set, baking is done, music selected... let the cooking begin!

New Work - Minerva, Bookshop and Gallery
After looking at the library inspirations yesterday - I thought of Minerva - a bookshop and gallery dedicated to crafts and textiles. I designed this store last year.Check out the old furniture we kept from the client's previous space - big chunky table, chairs and an old counter; which we combined with simple white walls and book displays. The orange lights and central runner divide the space up and leads to the retro orange doors (which I posted last week) at the back of the store.
I enjoyed this job as we transformed a dark concrete shell to this warm and inviting retail space and the client is delighted - which, at the end of the day, is essential.

Inspiration - Libraries
I am designing some joinery for a client's library and I found these images from Living Etc. for inspiration. All the the joinery are quite different but all look good and yes, are in fail-safe white.
