Orange

According to Kate Spade New York, May is the month of Orange. My brother in law will be happy about this - it is his favourite colour. I'm liking it too - enjoy this cute video celebrating this vibrant colour.

Tropical Wanderlust

Perhaps if I lived in a warm climate year round, I wouldn't appreciate the summer months.
I might even take them for granted.  So many Bostonians are itching to escape this time of year.
Packing, hectic airports, uncomfortable plane rides... it's all worth it, just to feel the sun warm your
skin and dig your toes in the sand for a few days.  I have had vacation on my mind but haven't booked anything, due to the simple fact that there are too many places I want to go.  This is where you come in... what is your absolutely most favorite warm climate vacation and why?

Only six days into January and I am already dreaming of Spring.  I find myself pining for a tropical getaway.  I long for palm trees swaying in the breeze, reggae music, and frozen concoctions adorned with mini umbrellas. I guess I will just have to slather on my coconut body cream and plug in my blender.

and now I am trying to catch up with everything that fell to the wayside with while I was bogged down with the flu.

Restful Reprieve

How was your Holiday?   I just love Christmas and everything that goes along with it.  However, after the last present has been unwrapped and the clock strikes midnight signaling that another Christmas has come and gone, I am ready for a nice little reprieve.  I plan on spending the day in some comfy loungewear, savoring a cup of coffee or two, and hopefully finding some time to get lost in a great book.
What was the best part of your Christmas this year?

Color Soiree Green and Orange

Isn't color wonderful?  I love color.  It goes back to being a kid and opening that brand new jumbo box of crayons and deciding which one to use first.  I get the same rush of excitement when bringing home paint samples or pondering what nail polish to buy.
So what is on your agenda this weekend?  My inviting friends for dinner turned into a Christmas themed dinner party which I am very excited about.  Table is set, baking is done, music selected... let the cooking begin!

Where the Cute Couple Resides

A couple this darling surely couldn't just live in any old house.  This is how I envision their home would look.  Fun, stylish and chic, just like them!

Music Meets Decor {Carrie Underwood}

I've loved Carrie Underwood since to minute she stepped foot on the American Idol stage.

It was so much fun to watch her transform from a simple country girl into a young woman

who took the music industry by storm.   I love look number one.  She is 

 rockin' the, "borrowed from the boys look," balanced out by a a halo of blonde locks.  I equally love the sexy masculine bedroom which accompanies the first photo.

New Work - Minerva, Bookshop and Gallery

After looking at the library inspirations yesterday - I thought of Minerva - a bookshop and gallery dedicated to crafts and textiles. I designed this store last year.

Check out the old furniture we kept from the client's previous space - big chunky table, chairs and an old counter; which we combined with simple white walls and book displays. The orange lights and central runner divide the space up and leads to the retro orange doors (which I posted last week) at the back of the store.

I enjoyed this job as we transformed a dark concrete shell to this warm and inviting retail space and the client is delighted - which, at the end of the day, is essential.

Birthday Party

My mum had her 60th birthday a couple of weekends ago and we had an Afternoon Tea party for her and 25 lady friends. We used our late grandmothers' china and dressed the living room into a girly oasis. The menu was danity sandwiches and cakes, along with tea and champagne. Delicious.
