Resene

I have previously posted about the new Studio over Garage that you see above - you can read about it here. I have just found it on the Resene website - Minty Architecture and I had entered this job into the Total Colour Awards and it is on display with a selection of other entrants. It is quite a useful tool to observe what colours are being used by other designers/architects and how they look in reality. Check it out here.

292 - So far...

The existing windows holes on the right have been made bigger and  ready for the new sliding doors and windows.

Start of light grey on the lower level - and after some contemplation, it is going to be changed!!

We had another good weekend prepping the exterior for painting (yes, it is a long process). I also painted a coat of the final colour on the lower level. After standing back and having a good look, I've decided to make a change. We're now putting the lighter grey on the upper level and a darker grey (to match the fascia colour) on the lower level. This will give more definition and break up the building mass. I feel much better about this decision and now look forward to slapping on the darker grey on the lower level asap!!

New Garage/Studio with Main House behind - After

Here is another collaboration with Minty Architecture. A new garage with a studio above was designed and built on the street in front of the existing house (see top photo).

This house is located on a street that has a reputation for brightly coloured houses and the clients wanted to carry on the tradition. One half the client duo wanted to keep the overall exterior scheme simple and the other half loved purple.

So this scheme was pulled together - we went bold on the weatherboards and doors and we balanced this with white trims and neutral greys. It has a slight Scandi feel about it. We put the much loved purple on the front door of the main house and on the letterbox.

The colours has been getting great response on the street, the clients are delighted and even our star builder, Euan likes it. Sweet.

New Work - Exterior of New House

I went onsite today to a new house that I am working on with Alan Minty Architect. The photo below is taken at the end of the day so there is a bit of a glow to the house from the sunset.
There are still things to do - timber staining, new deck and landscaping, however the house exterior is almost finished. The clients are really happy with the smart exterior colour scheme that we did for them.
